Zane "Bubba" D. McGwire Austin

Zane “Bubba” D. McGwire was born on November 11, 1998. On February 28, 2026, Bubba entered the gates of Heaven walking, talking, and smiling, straight into the arms of his nap partner and birthday twin, Papa. Also there to greet him was his uncle Justin, ready with a joke and a knee slap, and his great‑grandmother Mary Lawhorn, patiently waiting with a hymn on her lips and a whisper in his ear: “Welcome Home.” Heaven rejoiced as he walked the streets of gold on his way to meet Jesus.

God blessed us with Zane for 27 years—years filled with hope, courage, strength, and above all, love. Love was his greatest lesson to us: unconditional and irrevocable love. His mother, Amber, was his fierce protector and caretaker, and Zane was her true love and angel on earth. His sister, Sydney, and M and Pa shared in his care and devotion. Zane was surrounded in death just as he was in life—held close by family who cherished every moment with him. He was a precious gift from the Lord, and we are eternally grateful for the treasure he was.

Zane is survived by his mother, Amber Austin of the home; his sister, Sydney Treadway and husband, Jordan; his nephew, Reed and his sister, Tally Heck; his grandparents, Martana and Randy Dill; his uncles, Travis Duvall and Carla, and Shiloh Dill and Carin; his great‑grandmother, Carol Howell; and a long list of family who loved their Bubba dearly. He was preceded in death by his great‑grandparents Darrill Howell, Lawrence and Mary Lawhorn, and his uncle’s Justin and Glen Howell.

A celebration of Zane’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Lindsey Chapel Baptist Church, 116389 S. 4240 Rd., Eufaula, Oklahoma, with Pastor Tim Turner officiating. Interment will follow at the Howell Family Cemetery in Checotah, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers: Travis Duvall, Shiloh Dill, Bond Howell, Bailey Howell, Branson Howell, and Jordan Treadway. Honorary Pallbearers: Samuel Dill, Koyah Littleman, Riley Screechowl, and JoBey Howell.
