Our beloved Wanda Rea Raunikar passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 1, 2021, in Allen, Texas. She was born on June 10, 1926, in Latimer County, Oklahoma, to Ezekiel Jackson Dunagan and Mary Catherine (Ferguson) Dunagan. As a girl, Wanda loved the outdoors and loved to fish. She worked cattle with her father and took care of the family farm with her mother.
Wanda graduated from Wilburton High School in 1943. She married Eddie Raunikar on July 20, 1943. She attended business college near home and worked at Jenkins Music Company in Tulsa; at the Goodyear plant in Miami; and at the U. S. Naval Ammunition Depot in McAlester. She was employed by the Muskogee Public Schools in 1964 in the business office and retired from MPS as Treasurer.
After retirement, she and her husband traveled extensively and participated in a round-dancing club. She was an active member for many years at Bethany Presbyterian Church, now Presbyterian Church of Muskogee.
Wanda was preceded in death by husband Eddie Raunikar; brothers George, Jack, and Rufus Dunagan; and sisters Dana Ratcliff and Shirley Coker. She is survived by her two daughters, Francis Kaye Dunn (married to Scott Dunn) of McKinney, Texas, and Marji Lynn Raunikar (married to Bob Ballard) of Aledo, Texas; grandchildren Jana Kinkade, Julie Jernigan (married to Richard Jernigan), and Kevin Ballard; and great-grandchildren Britt Janik, Bennett Janik, Rhett Janik, and Noah Kinkade. We will all miss her spirit of determination, intelligence and pragmatism, and affection and devotion.
