Wanda Faye (McCormick) Jones

Wanda Faye Jones, 87, of Checotah, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Muskogee, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on August 22, 1938, in Warner, Oklahoma, Wanda was the cherished daughter of William Marzette McCormick and Mary Ann (Goodman) McCormick. She carried with her throughout her life a deep love for family, a strong work ethic, and a quiet, steady faith.

On September 17, 1958, Wanda married the love of her life, Kenneth Dale Jones, in Stinnett, Texas. Together they built a life rooted in devotion, raising their family across Borger, Texas; Alamosa, Colorado; Freer, Texas; and eventually Checotah, Oklahoma. Though Kenneth preceded her in death in 2023, their love remains a lasting legacy.

Wanda was a homemaker in every sense—creating a home filled with warmth, comfort, and unconditional love. She also worked as a cafeteria cook, where her kindness and care touched many lives in simple but meaningful ways.

Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a devoted member of Texanna Assembly of God. Wanda found joy in sewing and quilting, often expressing her love through the beautiful things she created. She had a special passion for her Barbie dolls, designing detailed military uniforms and elegant gowns, each made with patience, creativity, and a touch of joy that reflected her spirit.

Above all, Wanda treasured her family. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Teretta Owen and Christia Spafford, both of Muskogee, Oklahoma; her sons, Lanny Jones of Muskogee and William Jones of Checotah, Oklahoma; her sisters, Susan Richardson and Vicky Simpson of Yukon, Oklahoma; and her grandchildren: Deborah; Daniel and his wife, Camille; Luke and his wife, Kali; Sarah and her husband, Garry; Laura; Stephen and his wife, Anna; Mary Ann and her fiancé, Kelly; James and his wife, Melody; Rachel and her husband, Rocky; Elijah; Darius; Gabriel; Lucus; Alvin; Cylis; Dakota; Jameson; Dayson; Skyler; Haylee; Maycee; Areleen; Diane; Damien; Austin; and Ava. Each of them was a source of pride and joy in her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Jones; her parents, Marzette and Mary McCormick; her daughter, Casandra Jones; her son-in-law, Scott Owen; her brother, Glen McCormick; and her father- and mother-in-law, Ross and Thella Jones.

Wanda’s life was a beautiful reflection of love, faith, creativity, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of those who knew her.

Honoring Wanda a celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Texanna Assembly of God, 425739 Texanna Road, Checotah, Oklahoma.
