Walter Allen Obituary

The “tire whisperer” Dewayne Allen went to be with our Lord and Savior, on Friday, November 8, 2024 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  Surrounded by his loving wife, their children and numerous family members.

Walter Dewayne Allen was born on December 29, 1959, to Walter M. Allen and Patsy Virginia (Hughes) Allen in Wagoner, Oklahoma.

Dewayne spent many of his early years in the Catoosa area and graduated from Catoosa High School in 1979.  During those years he was known to go visit his cousin Paul and uncle Norman, fishing the days away and “keeping it on the floor” in some of the fast trucks Dewayne and Paul owned.

In October of 1980, while running his dad back and forth to dialysis, they stopped in at a local Sonic to see his mom at work.  Working there was a young 16 year old, Tammy Clement.  From the moment Tammy seen Dewayne, she knew their destiny.  On June 12, 1982, they joined in marriage.  Over the years, their family would grow starting with GW and then Deidra.

Dewayne was resilient when it came to life, always bouncing back from whatever life threw at him.  He was very dedicated to his family and those around him; this also included his jobs.  Dewayne only had a handful of jobs throughout his adult career, making him very dependable, reliable and such a hard worker.

When not being a provider for the family, you could often find Dewayne on a Friday night at one of the many local dirt tracks enjoying his peanuts in his Pepsi or setting on the couch cheering on the newest WWE champion.  Some days were simply spent just enjoying an old western.

While gathering information from the family, I asked each of them to answer one question.  “If you met someone later on in life and they asked about Dewayne what would you want them to know?”  I think their words will serve more justice than me rephrasing them.

Tammy: “He was an amazing provider and a loving hard working dependable man.”

GW: “He was strong, a mountain of a man. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do.”

Deidra: “He was caring to everyone.”

Dewayne will truly be missed in the hearts and lives of those close to him.
