Vernon Clyde Pond, 89, passed away peacefully October 4th, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Vernon was born August 16th, 1932 in Belgrade, Montana to Sam and Winifred (Houston) Pond.
Vernon grew up in Montana attending school in Belgrade. He was of the Church of Christ faith. Vernon served his country in the United States Army. He married Ann Day May 11th, 1973 celebrating 48 years of marriage this past May. They worked together as team drivers for the trucking company Vernon owned and operated. While they hauled everything, much of their business was transporting livestock. After his retirement, he raised rodeo bucking bulls. Vernon didn't have any hobbies, he just enjoyed working.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Winifred (Houston) Pond; sons, Gary, Randy, Vernon, Jr., and Ray; brother, Vinton; and sisters, Wanda and Irene. He is survived by his wife, Ann, of the home; son, Kenny Pond of California; stepsons, Kenneth Pearce of California and Jimmy Pearce of Oklahoma City; stepdaughter, Teresa Hayes of California; brother, Virgil Pond of Georgia; 13 grandchildren and many friends and extended family who will miss him dearly.
