Thelma "Lorene" (Killgore) Swadley-Lackey

Thelma "Lorene" (Killgore) Swadley Lackey, 93, of Council Hill, Oklahoma passed away on November 6, 2023. She was born, the daughter of Alvin James and Lucy (Havens) Killgore on May 25, 1930, in Gracemont, Oklahoma. Lorene was educated at Central High Elementary School before attending Council Hill High School from where she graduated in May 1949. She was a 50 plus years resident of Council Hill, Oklahoma.
      Lorene married David Clayton "Jack" Swadley on February 19, 1949 in Van Buren, Arkansas. They were married almost 58 years when he preceded her in death on December 12, 2006. Later, on October 27, 2011, Lorene and Harold Gene Lackey were married at home. He died on February 20, 2014.  
      Lorene held the position of Postmaster at the U.S. Postal Service. She worked at the sewing factory in Checotah and was a cook for Midway High School. She helped organize the Community Center in Council Hill, volunteered on the election board and as the town clerk for Council Hill. She enjoyed camping and her flowers. Lorene was a member of Council Hill Church of Christ.
      Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, siblings, Arvin Killgore, Albert Killgore, Lawrence Killgore, Ruth Smith, Loyd Killgore, Ellien Turner, and Raymond Killgore; grandchildren, Kari Highfill and Brian Shinpoch.
      She is survived by her son, Gary Gene Swadley; daughter, Glenda Kaye Shinpoch; one great granddaughter, Jessica Butcher and husband Patrick; three great great grandchildren, Jaret Butcher, Emma Butcher and Rowan Butcher.
      Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 10, 2023 at Hunn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Hunn Funeral Home Chapel with Rondal Killgore officiating. Interment will follow in Council Hill Cemetery.
