Sylvia Frances (Welch) Lucas

     Sylvia Frances Lucas, 100, of Eufaula, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024. She was born on September 26, 1923, in Checotah, Oklahoma, the daughter of Richard Lee Welch and Ada Mae (Guinn) Welch. 

     Sylvia worked and retired from Corning Glass in Muskogee.

     Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Johnie H. Lucas in 1952; son, Hershel Lucas; brothers, Bud Welch and Norman Welch; sisters, Reatha Bailey and Goldie Sturgeon and nieces, Delores Mae Love and Brenda Woodral.

     She is survived by nieces, Melinda Looney and husband David of Chickasha, OK; Melissa Becker of Fort Smith, AR, Marcella Barrington of Norman, OK, Patricia McGee and husband Alvin of Checotah, and Donna Mahar of Van Buren, AR; nephew, Bobby Bailey of Krebs; nieces, Judy Branch of Poteau, OK, and Debbie Vermillion and husband Robert of Checotah.

     Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Checotah, Oklahoma with Pastor Michael Hart officiating.
