Sherron Lee (Carder) Story-Vreugdenhil, 77, of Checotah, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023 at St. Francis Health System in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
She was born in Marion, Indiana on July 12, 1946, the daughter of Otto LeRoy and Mary Madeline (Dobson) Carder.
Sherron married David Beyes and from this union they welcomed three children, David, Jenifer and Marissa. David and Sherron later divorced. On February 20, 1981 Sherron married James Story in Bakersfield, California. James preceded her in death. Sherron then married David Vreugdenhil at the Lenna Baptist Church in Lenna, Oklahoma on July 12, 2009.
She was a member of Lenna Baptist Church in Lenna, Oklahoma prior to relocating to Checotah. Since living in Checotah, she has been a member of the Checotah First United Methodist Church.
Sherron was a homemaker. She loved visiting with people and making new friends. She never met a stranger. She also loved spending time with her step grandchildren, sewing, crafting, cross stitch, jewelry making, beading, crocheting and taking care of her family.
She is survived by her husband, David Vreugdenhil of the home; her children, David (Lisa) Beyes of Missouri, Jenifer Beyes of Indiana and Marissa Beyes of Missouri; step-children, Kimberly Thomas of Casper, Wyoming, Teresa Vreugedenhhil of Peirce, Oklahoma and Robert (Dawn) Vreugedenhil of Washington and a brother, Tom Carder of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Mary Carder; her husband, James Story and ex-husband, David Beyes.
Honoring Sherron’s request cremation is planned. A Celebration of Sherron’s life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the Checotah United Methodist Church, 419 W. Gentry Ave., Checotah, Oklahoma 74426.
