Sara Virginia Riede, 84, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed away January 2, 2022. She was born June 8, 1937, in Mountain Park, Oklahoma, the daughter of John William and Avis Isabell (Donley) Bearden. Virginia attended Wilson School and upon its closure, graduated from Weaver School, south of Frederick. She met the love of her life, Ronald Riede, in Oklahoma City while working for Schwab Meats. They were married from April 16, 1965, until January 4, 2015, when Ronald passed away.
Virginia stayed home to care for her children, David and Lisa, and worked part-time for Film Port, their family business in Duncan, Oklahoma. The family moved to Muskogee in 1983 when Ronald was transferred by the Social Security Administration. Until recently, Virginia maintained her home on Turner Street where she had lived since coming to Muskogee.
Shortly after the family's arrival in Muskogee, Virginia took a position as the financial secretary at St. Paul United Methodist Church, retiring after more than 20 years with the church. St. Paul was her home church since 1983.
Virginia was first of all a mother and homemaker. She enjoyed baking, sewing and knitting. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in all kinds of sports activities. She was a sports enthusiast and a fan of OU football and baseball. But her favorite team was the OKC Thunder. Virginia always had a jigsaw puzzle out or was working crossword puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald William Riede and brother, Dwain Bearden. Virginia is survived by her son, David Riede and wife Debbie of Muskogee; daughter, Lisa Morton and husband Ron of Muskogee; grandchildren, Devin, Kaylin, Kayla and Aubree; two great-grandchildren, Addileah and Acre and one sister, Evelyn Laney of Frederick, OK.
