Sammye M. Paine, 91, of Muskogee passed away August 10, 2020. She was born February 25, 1929 in Enid, Oklahoma.
She attended Enid Public Schools where she received the highest honor of May Queen her senior year and her future husband, Charles, was Herald.
From the time she was a little girl she wanted to become a nurse. After graduating from Enid High School she continued her education and completed her registered nurse program at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Enid.
Sammye spent many years working as a public health nurse at Muskogee County Health Department. Countless times she would prepare extra food and take Thanksgiving and Christmas meals to her patients who otherwise would be alone for the holidays.
Family members and friends remember Sammye as a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with them. Sammye’s favorite passions were babies and animals especially dogs and cat. Sammye had the gift of beauty. She loved to sing and was blessed with a sweet voice. Her favorite past time, was going to the movies. She also enjoyed cooking for her family.
Sammye was preceded in death by her parents Sam and Minn Dodds, her husband and love of her life Charles, and daughter Kimberly Paine. She is survived by sons Craig and wife Cheryl of Cookson and Charles Jr. and wife Diane of Oklahoma City. Also surviving are grandchildren Ashley Boomer (Kurt) of Collinsville, Brian Paine (Jennifer) of Tulsa, Tiffany Edmunds (James) of Norman, Tisa Riggs (Riley) of Edmond, Morgan Goslin of Jackson, Mississippi, and Taylor Towne (Pete) of Edmond along with thirteen great grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Brian Paine, Kurt Boomer, James Edmunds, Riley Riggs, Pete Towne, Morgan Goslin, Mark and Jeff Walters.
Public Viewing will be Thursday August 13, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Bradley-Foster-Petering Funeral Service. Services will be held Friday August 14, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum with Glenn Little officiating.
