Roy Everett Staton

Roy Everett Staton, 82, of Council Hill, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, August 16, 2021 at the St. Francis Hospital of Muskogee.  Everett was born on March 4, 1939, in Council Hill, the son of Harvey William and Orpha Mae (Pruitt) Staton. He graduated from Council Hill High School in 1957 and entered into the United States Army.  On October 20, 1962, Everett married Alta Lee Marshall at the Stillwell Court House.  Everett was a farmer and rancher.  He drove a propane truck for Deb Sisson Propane.  Everett worked for twenty-three years at Fansteel Metals as a chemical operator. He later worked for the Arkhola Sand Plant when he retired.  He attended the Wainwright Community Church.
Survivors include:  his wife, Alta, of the home; daughters, Connie Sue Duncan of Wainwright and Laura Annette Sawvel of Council Hill; brothers, Gerald Staton and wife Janice of  Yukon; Paul Staton and wife Wanda of Van Buren, AR, Leon Staton and wife Ulla of Choctaw, Eldon Staton of Council Hill and Stanley Staton and wife Shirley of Council Hill; sister, Brenda Combs and husband Larry of Council Hill; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Staton of Checotah, Carol Staton of Enid, Opal Zook of the home and nephew Ronald Zook, of the home; grandchildren, Janie Duncan of Wainwright, Jarrett Duncan and wife Violet of Muskogee, Jason Duncan of Owasso, Melissa Owen and husband John of Morris, Brian Sawvel of Claremore, Kristy Sawvel of Council Hill and Kelly Sawvel also of Council Hill; great grandchildren, Jacob, Jaylee, Olivia, Hannah, Taylor and Shyla; numerous nieces, nephews, and an array of family and friends and extended children, Jay, Scotty and Tonya Goodman.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey & Orpha Mae and brothers, Larry, Gordon and Kenneth.

Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 27, 2021 at Hunn Funeral Home, 211 West Okmulgee Ave., Checotah, OK.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the Old High School Gym in Council Hill with Brother Sherman and Brother Tommy Tidwell officiating.  Pallbearers will be Jarrett Duncan, Jason Duncan, Jacob Duncan, Brian Sawvel, John Owen and Shane Staton.  Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Staton, Kevin Staton, David Staton, Scotty Goodman and Jay Goodman.  Burial will follow in Council Hill Cemetery.
