Roy Cole Obituary

Roy Edward Cole passed away on June 14, 2026, lovingly surrounded by his family and friends.

Roy, a skillful mechanic, never met a motor he couldn’t fix. Roy took pride in bringing things back to life with his hands. Roy was skilled in many trades and held many positions during his life. Later in life, he worked at the Bulldog Express and loved cooking for his friends and family. It wasn’t always the way you ordered it, but the way he thought you needed it, and it was brought to your table with care.

Early in their relationship, Roy told Connie with a half-smile, “I can fix everything but a broken heart.” He spent his life proving it, mending what he could with wrenches, grit, a heart of gold, and a steady presence.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Irelan and Bea Cole; his brothers, Charles Cole and Norman Cole; sons-in-law, Craig Colbert and Darrel Johnson; brother-in-law, Harvey Jones; sisters-in-law, Patsy Cole and Linda Cole; grandson, Jeremiah Johnson; and nephews, Keith Jones and Jason Cole.

Roy is survived by his beloved wife, Connie Cole, of the home, and three children the two raised together: Lacy and Kirby Nunn of Checotah, Oklahoma; Jeffrey Harris of Texanna, Oklahoma; and Jared VanBrunt of Kansas. He also leaves behind his four cherished daughters he shared with his first wife, Paulette Jones, whom he married in 1962: Freda and Darren Armstrong of Muskogee, Oklahoma; Debbie Johnson of Wainwright, Oklahoma; Lisa and Russell of Aubrey, Texas; and Christy and Sean of Jacksonville, Arkansas; his sister, Peggy and O.J. Focht; twenty grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Roy is further survived by his niece, Brenda and Mike Anderson, and nephew, Todd and Cindy Jones. Roy had two dear friends, Mike Spradlin and Steve Ledford, along with many other relatives and friends who will cherish the lasting memories they shared with him.

Roy had a way of making everyone feel special and loved above all else. He’d say, “You’re my favorite; I just tell the others that.”

Roy’s love showed up in greasy knuckles, a helping hand, full plates, and a stubborn belief that he could fix anything. He leaves behind a legacy measured not just in motors repaired and meals served, but in the way he cared. Roy Cole is often described as a “one-of-a-kind” man. He ended his life knowing he was going home to his Lord and Savior and had hopes of leading his family and friends on the path that would guide them back into his arms to enjoy Heaven together.
