Robert D. "Bob" Melton

Robert D. "Bob" Melton, 88, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023.  He was born January 20, 1935, the son of Riley and Stella Mae (Hughes) Melton, in Hulbert, Oklahoma. Bob was raised in Hulbert where he attended school.
      Bob married Mildred Eileen Crossland on May 9, 1953, in Muskogee. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
      Bob loved building, welding, rooster fighting and carpentry.  He was the owner of Melton Motors for approximately 20 years. He retired in 1987.
      Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jay Melton and LeRoy Hammer.  He is survived by his wife, Mildred of the home; three sons, Bobby Melton and his wife Anna, Riley Melton and his wife Mary and David Melton, all of Muskogee; daughter, Nancy Schuette and her husband Thomas of Muskogee; favorite cousin, Mary Burrell of Phoenix, Arizona and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
      Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.  Inurnment will follow.
