PHYLLIS D. (BEVER) HOLDER
1930 - 2016
Phyllis D. (Bever) Holder was born on December 26, 1930, in Keefeton, Oklahoma, to Oren and Edith (Buse) Bever. Phyllis passed from this life on December 7, 2016 at Eastgate Retirement Center surrounded by her family, friends and Hometown Hospice. She was 85 years old.
Phyllis' father, Oren, died at a very early age. After his death, Phyllis was raised by her mother, Edith and grandparents, Raymond and Dena Buse of Keefeton, OK. Phyllis graduated from Warner High School in 1948. After graduation, Phyllis met the love of her life, Muriel Holder. They married in Van Buren, AR on May 13, 1950. They returned there on their 50th wedding anniversary to celebrate with their son, Raymond "Bud" Holder and daughter-in-law, Sherry. Phyllis graduated from Virgil's Beauty College. After working for a few months as a beautician, Phyllis left this trade to become a full time wife and mother.
Phyllis had several hobbies: raising flowers especially roses, making peanut brittle at Christmas, enjoying her grandchildren and providing a loving home.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Muriel; son, Michael; mother and father, Oren and Edith; grandparents, great-grandchildren, Caleb Beckler and Travis Hegstrom; several aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
She is survived by her son, Raymond "Bud" Holder and wife, Sherry of Muskogee; grandchildren, Becky and Matt Beckler of Chandler, AZ, Crystal and Mike Cheater of Muskogee and James and Jamie Holder of Muskogee; great-grandchildren, Grace, Luke, Chloe, Zachary, Steven, Kilee, Milee, Brantley and Riley; a caring, kind and loving aunt, Ardyce Buse Briggs and her earthly guardian angel and roommate, Mrs. Rosie Humphrey, and a host of family and friends.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Eastgate Retirement Center and Hometown Hospice.
Viewing will be at Foster-Petering Funeral Home on Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family will greet friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Keefeton Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Cardell Coppin and Rev. Danny Barks officiating. Interment will follow in Agnew Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Terry "Speck" Plunkett, Tony Burress, Sam Dwight Holder, Doug Buse, David Buse, and Don Stout. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Plunkett, Ed Coleman, James Holder, and all other friends and relatives.
