Perry Joe Johnson, known to all who love him as Red, left this earth March 25, 2021 surrounded by the love of his family.
Red was born March 13, 1935 in Wapanucka, Oklahoma to Luster and Fronnie (Cox) Johnson.
Red was a lifetime fence builder, opening Johnson Fence Company 60 years ago. He liked playing farmer, bailing hay, and working cows. Hunting, trot line fishing, and camping were some of his favorite past time, but his love was his family. He was happiest when with his kids, grandkids, great grandkids and great great grandkids.
Red was preceded in death by parents, Luster and Fronnie (Cox) Johnson, his brother, L.C. Johnson, his sons, Lawrence Paul Johnson and Anthony Wayne Johnson and his daughter, Barbara Johnson Hargrave.
Red is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dixie Johnson, his children Jimmy Johnson of Oklahoma City, Vanessa Myers of Tomball, Texas, Mike Johnson of Magnolia, Texas, Sam Johnson and his wife Andrea of Shawnee, Mary Martin and her husband Brian of Checotah, Lori Vogt and her husband Don of Checotah, Perry Joe Johnson, Jr. and his wife Deanna of Shawnee, and son-in-law Ronny Hargrave of Navasota, Texas. Red was the proud grandpa of 22 grandchildren and too many great and great great grandchildren to list. He also is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends!
A funeral service for Perry Joe Johnson, Sr., (Red), will be held at Hunn Funeral Home, 211 West Okmulgee, Checotah, 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 29, 2021.
