Michelene Elizabeth Pesantubbee

  Michelene Elizabeth Pesantubbee, 67, died Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at her home in Muskogee, Oklahoma.  She was born on September 13, 1953 to James Howard and Annie Mae (Cricklin) Barrows in Enid, Oklahoma.  Michelene attended Muskogee High School and then furthered her education at the University of Oklahoma where she received her Masters degree in Business Education.  She continued her education at the University of California, Santa Barbara receiving a Masters degree and a PHD in Religious Studies.  Michelene worked in education teaching and lecturing at the University of Iowa.  Michelene was a member of Fife Indian United Methodist Church in Muskogee.
      She was  preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary A. Reece; grandmothers, Mary Daisy Cricklin and Elizabeth Barrows and nephew, Jonathan Moses.  Michelene is survived by four sisters, Carolyn S. Moses, Catherine J. Bolin and husband Darrell and Cheryl L. Hensley, all of Muskogee and Valerie M. Orcutt and husband Mike of Inola, OK; nieces, Amy Reece, Shawn Dixon, Catherine Moses, Dailen Snake, Tracey Settlemyre, and Philica Parker; nephews, Jason Reece, Austin Moses, Jeremy Plunkett, Ivan Goad, Roy Bolin, William J. Hensley, and Shane Foster; numerous great nieces and great nephews; and special friends, Mary Churchhill of California, Lisa Larosa and children of Iowa City, Iowa and Sydney R. Switzer of Iowa City, Iowa.
      Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2021 at Hunn Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 211 West Okmulgee, Checotah. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday at Whitefield Cemetery.                                        .
