Michael Gaxiola Obituary

Michael “Mike” Gaxiola, 71, of Checotah, passed away Monday, November 11, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital in Muskogee.

Mike was born in Fresno, California on December 1, 1952 to Edward Gaxiola and Helen (Burrego) Scott. 

Mike graduated from Checotah High School.  He worked in construction as a drywaller. 

Mike was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Checotah.  He volunteered for the Shady Grove Fire Department and belonged to the Checotah Round Up Club. 

Mike enjoyed team roping, dart throwing, billiards and karaoke.  Most of all he had a great love for his family and friends. 

Survivors include his children, Cody Martin of Braggs, Oklahoma, Jeff Gaxiola of Checotah, Chris Gaxiola of Checotah and Tina Adney and her husband, Steven Starkey of Stigler, Oklahoma; son-in-law, Andy White of Braggs, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Evalyn Gaxiola of Checotah; grandchildren, Levi White and his wife, Ashton White, Baylor Gaxiola, Brody Gaxiola, Bryce Gaxiola, Jordon Becket and a great grandson, Statler White. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jennifer White and brother, James Gaxiola. 

A memorial service for Mike will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Hunn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 211 W. Okmulgee, Checotah, Oklahoma 74426.
