Luratta Ann Burrows, 83, of Porum, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 11, 2026.
She was born on July 29, 1942, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to George E. and Edna (King) Victory. Luratta’s life was a testament to strength, resilience, and love. Though she did not complete high school, she built a life defined by determination and hard work, supporting herself through various roles, including waitressing and bartending, until her retirement at the age of 65.
Throughout her life, Luratta lived in many places—Sam Houston, Texas; Fairbanks, Alaska; Fort Smith, Arkansas; Leavenworth, Kansas; and Platte City, Missouri—before settling in Porum. Wherever she went, she carried a generous spirit and a welcoming heart.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures: bowling, playing pool, softball, quilting, sewing, and tending to her garden. She also had a special love for animals, especially the stray cats she cared for so lovingly. Above all, she cherished her family. Time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her the greatest happiness.
Luratta is lovingly remembered by her brother, James “Plug” Victory and his wife Marion; her sons, David Leatherman and his wife Shelley, and Johnathon Burrows; her daughter, Lalita (Leatherman) Flagg; her grandchildren, Andrew Leatherman and his wife Lindsey Chappell, Erin (Leatherman) Eckstein and her husband Mason, Victoria Flagg, Mahala Flagg, and Mylitia Burrows; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Grayson Eckstein and Addison Eckstein.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Edna Victory; her brother, Sonny Victory; and her sister, Glenna (Victory) Coppin.
Luratta will be deeply missed and forever loved. Her kindness, strength, and the love she gave so freely will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Agnew Cemetery in Keefton, Oklahoma, with interment to follow.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Hunn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 211 W. Okmulgee, Checotah, Oklahoma 74426.
