Lola Mae Phillips, age 75, of Checotah, Oklahoma, entered her eternal rest on Monday, January 12, 2026.
She was born April 22, 1950, in Checotah, Oklahoma, to Chester Chronister and Bonnie “Violet” Cook. Lola was a lifelong resident of Checotah and a graduate of Checotah High School. She continued her education by attending cosmetology school and spent the majority of her working life providing care for others through home health services, living out her servant’s heart by helping those in need.
Lola was very active in her community and lived life with strength, independence, and purpose. She enjoyed shopping, driving her car, and working cattle. Even as she grew older, she remained active and determined, trusting the Lord to guide her each day.
On May 28, 1966, Lola married the love of her life, David Phillips, in Stigler, Oklahoma. They shared many years together until his passing in 2010. Lola found comfort in her faith and the promise of being reunited with him again.
She is survived by her children, Michael Phillips, Everett Phillips, and Khealby Phillips, all of Checotah; her siblings, Dewayne Chronister of Tulsa and Susan Formby of Olathe, Kansas; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends who will cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Bonnie “Violet” Chronister, and her husband, David Phillips.
A graveside service celebrating Lola’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Triplett Cemetery in Texanna, Oklahoma. Interment will follow, as she is laid to rest in peaceful assurance of eternal life.
