Lavada L Bennett

 LaVada Lorene Bennett, 85, of Checotah, Oklahoma passed away on October 9, 2021.  She was born on December 6, 1935, in Morris, Oklahoma, the daughter of Jess Henry Spurgeon and Georgia Mae (Cullins)  Spurgeon.   LaVada and Henry C. "Sam" Bennett married on December 17, 1975.  
      She was a member of Brushy Hill Baptist Church, volunteered at the Election Board and belonged to a book club at the library in Checotah.  
      LaVada was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Georgia McCorkle; grandson, Alec Norcom; grandson, Jesse Twist and daughter, Michelle Wilson.
She is survived by her husband, Henry "Sam" Bennett; son, Kevin Wilson;  daughter, Leanne Hill; step-son, Spike Bennett; step-daughters, Sharalee Bible and Leslie Cantrell; brother, Donald Jess Spurgeon; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.  
      Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 18, 2021 at Hunn Funeral Home in Checotah.  Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Liberty Baptist Church in Morris, Oklahoma.  Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery in Morris.  Pallbearers will be Jacob Twist, Erik Rey Garcia, Jamie Wilson, Tyler Norcom, Bryce Norcom and Colton Hill.
