Larry Lorin Barnett, 72, of Oklahoma City, passed away, September 8, 2022. He was born February 10, 1950, the son of Sam Barnett and Irene (Maggie) Columbus in Oklahoma City. He grew up in Konawa where he attended Konawa schools and was active in several sports. He loved playing fast-pitch softball and was on several championship teams. Larry met Nancy July at Falls Creek when they were 13 years old. They married in 1971. The couple celebrated 51 years in marriage this past January. From this union, Larry and Nancy were blessed with four children.
Larry enjoyed golfing with his sons, brothers and nephews. He worked for Newcastle Casino for over 17 years. He was a Baptist and held membership at Deep Fork Hillibee Baptist Church. Larry was ordained as a Baptist minister in September 2021.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brent Barnett; sister, Jackie Barnett, brothers, Alex Barnett and Clifford Barnett. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Barnett; sons, Kevin Barnett and wife Jeanetta of Muskogee and Barry Barnett of Checotah; daughter, Candice Barnett Joyner and husband Will of Oklahoma City; brothers, Ray Barnett and wife Cecilia of Tulsa, Eddie Barnett of Konawa and Ricky Columbus of Oklahoma City; sisters, Johnnie Allen of Ponca City, Kay Roanhorse and husband Jim of Arizona and Teresa Holman of Ada; seven grandchildren, Cim, Cory, Cameron, Caleb, Nolan and Alayna Barnett and Jessica Nelson and husband Isaiah; one great-grandchild, Amon Nelson; two special friends, Veronica Delgado and Kayla Woolery and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Hunn Funeral Home in Checotah. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, at Deep Fork Hillibee Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Cory Barnett, Cameron Barnett, Cim Barnett, Nolan Barnett, Barry Barnett and Derek Manly. Honorary pallbearers are Caleb Barnett, Shawnee Harper, Billy Welch, Max Bear, Gifford Barnett and Memphis Barnett.
