Kathleen (Rice) Rau

Marion “Kathleen” Rau, 81, of Muskogee, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2025.

She was born July 29, 1943, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the daughter of Jack Cagle Rice and Lennie Lee (Sullivan) Rice.

Kathleen was employed by JcPenny in Muskogee for approximately 30 years before her retirement.

Kathleen enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  She especially relished in the time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was fond of shopping for a bargain, dinner with family and friends, bingo and taking a chance on a slot machine at the casino.  Though she was a private person she always displayed herself with class, appreciation and etiquette.  She went above and beyond for her family and friends.

Survivors include her son, Curtis Rau and his wife, Karen of Victoria, Texas; her grandchildren, Maegan Burkett of Checotah, Hannah Roberts and her husband, Brent of Checotah, Brett Rau of Victoria, Texas and Brooke Lau and her husband, Jack of Midland, Texas; her great grandchildren, Cayden, Grayson, Wes and Reid; her niece, Amy Powell of El Dorado, Kansas; her great niece, Shayla Powell and a brother-in-law, Dusty Galloway of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Lennie Rice; a daughter, Carla Burkett; two sisters, Jackie Rice and Linda Galloway and two grandchildren, Brittney and Phillip.

Honoring Kathleen cremation is planned.  A Celebration of Kathleen’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Hunn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 211 W. Okmulgee St., Checotah, Oklahoma 74426.
