Karen Sue (Wanzer) Duarte

 Karen Sue Duarte, 64, of Checotah, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022.  She was born on April 6, 1958, the daughter of Olin and Wanda (Luke) Wanzer in Oklahoma City.  In 1976, Karen graduated from Carl Albert High School in Midwest City, Oklahoma. She continued her education at a vocational school and became a licensed electrician.  Later, Karen married Dennis Duarte.   She owned a quilt shop named Sew Many Quilts.  Karen enjoyed visiting quilt stores all over the region.  She and Dennis owned Paradise Donuts in Checotah.  
      Karen was preceded in death by her parents.  She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Dennis Duarte of the home; three children, Zachariah, Jeremiah, and Brianna Nelson, all of Hull, Iowa; brother, Don Wanzer of Weleetka, OK and sister, Lanita Firestone and her husband Thomas of Sperry, OK.  
      Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Hunn Funeral Home.  Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Greenlawn Cemetery with Pastor Tim Whisenhunt officiating.
