Karen Renee Crews, 54, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at her home in Checotah, Oklahoma. She was born on March 22, 1969, the daughter of Ronald Dewayne Crews and Brenda Lou (Tackett) Owens in Middleton, Tennessee.
Karen attended Northside High School in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Later, she received her GED before attending Tulsa Community College where she earned her Associate Degree in General Studies. She continued her education at Rose State College and finished her educational requirements at Oklahoma State University receiving a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
Karen worked at Dollar General for approximately three years. She then began a job at Kuerig Dr. Pepper as a Sales Account Manager.
Karen met David Roden during the summer of 2022 and they were engaged to be married. They loved watching the sunset on the lake.
She enjoyed swimming and loved spending time on the lake. She also enjoyed nature and bird watching and was the creator of the Oklahoma Bird & Wildlife Watchers. Karen lived life to the fullest taking it one day at a time. She especially enjoyed the time spent with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Crews in May 2023, maternal grandmother, Marzell Tackett in June 2001 and maternal grandfather, Rolland Tackett in March 1979.
Karen is survived by her fiance, David Roden of Checotah; daughter, Kristia Wilkerson of Norman, OK; grandson, Christopher Clark of Norman; son, Devin Wilkerson and his wife Katlyn Marie and their daughter MacKenzie Lee of Lockhart, TX; mother, Brenda Owens of Hot Springs, AR; step-mom, Gloria Crews of Newcastle, OK; brother, James Owens of Webbers Falls, OK; brother, Phillip (Bethany) Owens of Carney, OK; best friends, Lori Dewbre and Ronda Masser-Wiegert; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will schedule services at a later date. Karen will be laid to rest next to her grandmother, Marzel Tackett, at Hopper Cemetery in Hopper, Arkansas.
