Joyce Darlene (Stephens) Parker

Joyce Darlene Parker, 77, of Checotah, passed away Friday, November 8, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa.

She was born in Checotah, Oklahoma on July 17, 1947 to Herman Ray Stephens and Esther Marie (Baker) Stephens-Christopher.

Joyce attended Central High and Fredrick High School.  She was a homemaker. 

Joyce had a great love for her family and friends.  She enjoyed traveling, fishing, camping and going on adventures.  She would often cook and was feeding others.  She lavished in singing and performing gospel music. She cherished every moment spent with those she held dear.

Joyce married the love of her life, Elmer Parker on June 25, 1964 in Vernon, Texas.  Together, they raised a beautiful family and built a life filled with laughter, love and devotion.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years Elmer Parker of Checotah; daughter, Angie Vandiver of Checotah; son, Matthew Parker and his wife, Lori of Checotah; grandchildren; Wes Vandiver, Amanda Vandiver, Miranda Vandiver, Cade Parker, Ashley Costa, Jordan Parker and Morgan Parker; great grandchildren, Jayda Vandiver, Paysley Vandiver, Layna Vandiver, Rayley Vandiver, Wyatt Powell, Cole Fairchild, Finley Fairchild, Aryah Vandiver, Tinnley Vandiver, Tyleigh Glover, Halle Haywood, Rylan Villines, Madilynne Villines, Samuel Thompson, Peyton Parker, Eli Parker, Aidan Parker, Kamdyn Berryhill and Lucas Burnett; sisters, Janice, Gloria and Carolyn and her brother, Wayne.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Manuel Stephens and Roy Stephens and a son-in-law, Tim Vandiver.

Viewing for Joyce will be 11:00 am to 7:00 pm with the family greeting friends from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Hunn Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Checotah.

Graveside Services will be 10:00 am on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Vandiver Cemetery with Darren Glover and Pastor Sanford Nero officiating.  Interment will follow.

Pallbearers are Jerry Alfred, Robert Alfred, Tyler Glover, Randal Villines, Tim Stephens, Jesse Stephens and Justin Stephens.
