John Michael Loper, 57, of Checotah, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, November 14, 2025, at his residence.
He was born on March 3, 1968, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the son of James Michael Loper and Marion Elaine (Williams) Loper.
John attended Harrah High School in Harrah, Oklahoma. He was of the Seventh Day Adventist faith and enjoyed the company of his dogs, fishing and helping his neighbor in need.
John married Terry Lee Woodworth on August 23, 2014, in Checotah, Oklahoma. Together they spent 11 amazing years filled with devotion, love and laughter.
John was self-employed and worked in construction. He was a talented handyman with lots of experience.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Terry Loper of the home; his mother, Marion Loper; two children, Michael Richardson and Brittany Richardson-Staggs both of Harrah, Oklahoma; his sister, April Loper of Okemah, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Dylan Dunlap, Colt Richardson and Ashlin Sumner.
John was preceded in death by his father, James Loper; his grandmother, Betty Jean Loper; his brother, Ronald Ray Loper and his grandfather, James Melford.
Honoring John’s wishes, cremation is planned. The family plans to celebrate his life at a later date.
