John David Irwin

 John David Irwin, 89, of Checotah, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021.  He was born on March 25, 1932, in Healdton, Oklahoma, the son of Charles and Josie (Yeager) Irwin.  John attended Tonkawa schools where he played football and later furthered his education at Northern Oklahoma College.  He served his country in the Army during the Korean War.  He married Wanda Boyd in Kingfisher, Oklahoma on January 23, 1953.  He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and was a joke teller.  John was a member of Lake Eufaula Christian Church.
      John was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Wayne; sister Josephine Blossom; and brother, Charles Irwin.  He is survived by his wife of almost 69 years, Wanda Irwin of Checotah; daughter, Tonya Maynard and husband, Charles Samuel of Inola, OK; five grandsons, one granddaughter and eight great-grandchildren and a niece, Karen Minkler of Oakhurst, CA.
