John Daniel Barry

John “Danny” Daniel Barry, 52, of Checotah, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025.

He was born April 17, 1972, in Missouri, the son of Richard Clint Barry and Twyla June (Hood) Barry.

John graduated from Checotah High School in 1990.  He furthered his education receiving his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

He served four years in the United States Navy.

John worked for Lakewood Cabinetry Inc. where he thought very highly of all his coworkers.  When not working he reaped the benefits of farming and tending to his cattle.

John married Tara Hughes on March 18, 2006 in Muskogee, Oklahoma.  They shared 19 years of marriage together.  He was an amazing husband, father and provider.  He was first-class when it came to caring for his children.  He enjoyed watching his kids bowl and cheered them on in Taekwondo. 

Survivors include his wife, Tara Barry of the home; four children, Jonathan Barry and his wife, Vanessa of Kentucky, Amber Lenington of McAlester, Hunter Barry and Hannah Barry both of Checotah; two grandchildren, Emma Barry and Eliza Barry; his mother, Twyla Barry of Checotah; two siblings, Aimee Boatman and Josie Koger; grandmother, Ellen Barry of Checotah; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Stan and Janette Hughes of Big Cabin, Oklahoma and numerous extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Barry and his grandparents, Lonnie Barry and Edgar and Velma Hood.

A Celebration of John’s Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 25, 2025 at the First Baptist Church in Eufaula, 400 Foley Ave., Eufaula, Oklahoma 74432 with Pastor Jay Ingram officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Hunn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 211 W. Okmulgee St., Checotah, Oklahoma 74426.
