Joe Fry, Sr. Obituary

Joe Fry was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Surrounded by loved ones, he left this world on February 15th, 2021 at the age of 66.

Joe was born in Henryetta, OK on January 20th, 1955 to Jack and Marie Fry. He grew up working the fields and raising peanuts in Pierce, OK. Joe met his forever, Marilyn Henderson in Dewar, OK. Joe and Marilyn married on November 22nd, 1974 in the living room of Marilyn’s family home. Together, they had 2 children: Melanie and Joe William Fry Jr.

At 17, Joe began working at Folsom Construction with his brothers. There he worked for 20 years. Joe began working for W.E. Allford propane in 1996. He loved his customers and was a light to anyone he came in contact with. Often, those he delivered to would leave treats and gifts for him under their propane lids. He retired in 2017 after 21 years.

Throughout Joe’s life, he was a dedicated Sooner football fan. He enjoyed crappie fishing at Watermelon Bridge, tending to his garden, and sitting on the porch. Joe loved the Lord and going to church. He was baptized on October 29th, 2000. He loved to laugh and be silly, saying a random “Hidee,” “Walkashaunday,” or “Get in the house Mary!” Joe loved his dog, Tiger and was a devoted husband and friend. His cheerful attitude and contagious smile will be greatly missed.

Joe is proceeded in death by his parents Jack and Marie Fry, brothers Jackie and Jim Fry, father-in-law Charles Henderson, and granddaughter Jolen Fry. He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn; two children, Melanie Lannen & husband Brian, and Joe William Fry Jr.; two brothers, Roger Fry and Wayne Fry; one sister, Linda Bolen; five grandchildren, Tyler Fry, Trent Chancellor & wife Rylee, Holly Lannen, Loren Fry, and Lilien Fry; two great grandchildren, Eastin Allen and Natalie Jo; and mother-in-law Patsy Henderson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. 

Viewing will be held on Monday, February 22nd, 2021 from 9am – 8pm at Hunn Funeral Home, 211 W. Okmulgee, Checotah, OK. A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, February 23rd, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Faith Church, 389 Paul Carr Dr., Checotah, OK. Interment will follow at the Pierce Cemetery under the direction of Hunn Funeral Home. 

Pallbearers will be Trent Chancellor, Tyler Fry, Jerry Lane, Brian Lannen, Brian Taylor, and Bobby Ziegler. Honorary pallbearer will be D.V. Davis.
