Jim Edward Curtis was born in McAlester, OK on December 5, 1942 to Clark and Doris Curtis. After spending a childhood in Ringling, OK, he attended Connors State College in Warner, OK where he met and married Wanda Tyner on February 11, 1964. They later moved to Clarksville, Arkansas where he completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 1969. Jim worked for Ralston Purina for four years then Cyprus Steel as a welder and metal worker until he was disabled on a jobsite accident in 1978. There after he has been a rancher and building his retirement home in Checotah, OK. Jim’s passion since childhood was always horses. He took pride in raising several outstanding colts and won numerous buckles and jack-pots team roping. Jim and Wanda remained married 56 years until his passing. They had two sons and two daughters. He was a member of Checotah First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clark and Doris Curtis; brother, Stanley Curtis; sister, Della Curtis; infant daughter, LaWanna Curtis; grandson, Joshua Mobbs, and nephew, Clendon Curtis.
He is survived by his wife Wanda Curtis; sons, Joe Curtis and wife Amber and Stan Curtis and wife Sandy; daughter Shannon Bollinger; sister-in-law, Sally Curtis; seven grandkids, four great-grandkids and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
