James (Jimmy) E. Cathey

James Eugene "Jimmy" Cathey, 81, entered heaven on December 18th, 2022.  He was born on April 17, 1941 in Spiro, Oklahoma to Buford Cathey and Betty Cathey Atkinson.
      Jimmy grew up in Muskogee, Oklahoma and attended Muskogee public schools.  He graduated from Central High School.  As a young man Jimmy worked selling newspapers and also worked at the JC Penney's warehouse.  He enjoyed watching old western movies.  Jimmy was loved by everyone and was a friendly person who enjoyed visiting with people. Jimmy was a delight to be around and a very special brother. It was through some mutual friends that he met and married Jocelyn Davidson on July 3, 1981.
      Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Buford Cathey and Betty Cathey Atkinson.  He is survived by his wife, Jocelyn Cathey of Muskogee; brother, John Cathey and wife Wanda of Texas, sister, Lynda Fairman of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
      A graveside service honoring Jimmy's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2022 in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Spiro, Oklahoma.  Chaplain Joel Powell will officiate the service.
