James Cecil Winkle, 79, went to his eternal home November 22nd, 2021. Cecil was born June 21st, 1942 in Checotah, Oklahoma to Homer and Clova (King) Winkle.
Cecil graduated from Checotah High School in 1960. He and Pat (Putman) Winkle were married in 1965 and celebrated 56 years together. Their union was blessed with two children, Angie and Chris.
Cecil served in the U.S. Army with the Infantry Big Red One during the Vietnam War. He worked with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation as a Materials Specialist retiring in 2009 with 31 years of service. He was an avid wolf hunter and had 13 wolf hounds he loved to run. He was a member of the Hunter's Association.
Cecil was a good man, wonderful husband and father, who took care of his family. He was a kind man who never said an unkind word about anyone. Cecil was a member of First Baptist Church, Checotah.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Clova Winkle; sister, Louann Storm and brother, Dale Winkle He is survived by his loving wife, Pat; daughter, Angie Shockley (Jason Hall) of Mead, Kansas; son, Chris Winkle (Candy) of Checotah; sister Nona Coleman of Checotah; grandchildren Hayden, Hayley (Tucker), Amanda (Joshua), Amber, Dalton, Audria; great grandchildren, Madison, Dylan, Ethan, Angel, Nellie, Charley, Haven, Brelynn, Kymber and Cecilee; former daughter-in-law, Mitzi Winkle and several nieces and nephews.
