James Bruce "Tumbleweed" Roberts

James Bruce “Tumbleweed” Roberts, 65, of Checotah, passed away Monday, January 13, 2025.

He was born March 5, 1959 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the son of James Frank Roberts and Rachel Marie Louise (Holloway) Roberts.

James Bruce graduated from James Bowie High School in Arlington, Texas. He worked as an electrician and was a jack of all trades.  He was proficient in many different skills.  

James Bruce married Robin Irene Temple on December 9, 2014 in Checotah, Oklahoma.

He was a member of New Life United Pentecostal Church of Checotah.

James Bruce enjoyed fishing, motorcycles and race cars.  Most of all he enjoyed being with his wife and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Robin Roberts of the home; his mother, Rachel Roberts of Checotah; step daughter, Lindsey Shelton of McAlester, Oklahoma; sister, Deborah McGuire and her husband, Don of Grand Prairie, Texas; nieces, Stephanie Conger and Desirae Woodward; nephews, John Conger and Grant Francis; great nieces, Cayliauna Conger, Alexandria Conger and Rachel Ybarra; great-great nephew, Cayson Bethel, Harley Woodward, Dalton Woodward and Ryleigh Howell and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Roberts on September 18, 1998; his brother, Darrin Keith Roberts on July 22, 2011; several aunts and uncles and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Visitation for James Bruce will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Hunn Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Checotah.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Hunn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 211 W. Okmulgee St., Checotah, Oklahoma 74426 with Pastor Derek Hanson officiating.

Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Checotah.

Pallbearers will be John Conger, Grant Francis, Lloyd Bivins, Matthew Holloway, Bobby Jacobs David Brooks and Bryant Clark.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Hunn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 211 W. Okmulgee St., Checotah, Oklahoma 74426.
