James Franklin Huntley

James Franklin Huntley, 76, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025 in Oktaha, Oklahoma surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on January 7, 1949, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, the son of Seth Wilson Huntley and Naomi Muriel (Eden) Huntley.

James graduated from Tahlequah High School.  He was an active member of the community and a member of Union Community Church in Tahlequah. James enjoyed engaging in conversation with just about anyone he met. He worked as a mechanic his entire life.  He enjoyed automotive and big equipment repair and welding.  

James married Florence Arlene Scozzapana on December 10, 1969.  She preceded James in death on January 3, 2010.  James lived in Southern California with Florence and together they had two children.  After Florence died in 2010, James moved back to Tahlequah, where he has spent the last several years of his life with his friend, Ms. Cynthia Harrington, living on the Huntley Family Property on Stickross Mountain.

Survivors include his daughters, Fancy Thompson and her husband, Jace of Oktaha, Oklahoma and Margaret Huntley of California; his eight grandchildren, Christina Huntley, Deanna Jones, Sarah Huntley, Andrew Huntley, Corynne Huntley-Segarra, Alex Gonzales, Rosie Gonzales and Cooper Thompson, and numerous cousins, close friends, and other family in the surrounding Tahlequah area.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Seth and Naomi (Muriel) Huntley and his wife, Florence.

Honoring James, cremation is planned.  No services have been scheduled at this time.
