James Lee Cellars

James Lee Cellars, 42, of Checotah, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2025, at his residence.

He was born July 21, 1982, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, the son of Johnny Lee Cellars and Willie Mae (Rose) Cellars.

James attended Butner Public School and later Eufaula Public School.

He worked as an automotive mechanic.

James married Tara Kathryn Goforth on June 14, 2005, in Wewoka, Oklahoma.

He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Tara Cellars of the home; his father, Johnny Cellars and his wife, Vickie of Stigler, Oklahoma; his brother, John Cellars and his wife, Amy of Wanette, Oklahoma; his sister, Christa Alred and her husband, Nick of Cromwell, Oklahoma and a sister-in-law, Shannon Smith and numerous other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Willie Mae Cellars; a brother, William David Cellars; his grandparents and several other family members.

Honoring James cremation is planned.  No services have been scheduled at this time.
