Gus Hart Obituary

Gus R. Hart, 89, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus, Tuesday, April 2, 2024, in Muskogee, Oklahoma.  He was born in Westville, Oklahoma on October 16, 1934, to Willie Bell (Proctor) Hart and Elmer Carl Hart.  Gus was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 61 years, Ella (Brandon) Hart; brothers, Kenneth Hart, Bob Hart, and Leroy Hart; sister, LaVera Wilmoth; sister-in-law, Yvonne Brandon; and great grandson, Oliver Hart. He is also preceded in death by his second wife of four years, Betty Jamison-Hart.  He is survived by his children, Michael R. Hart and wife Cindy of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Chris A. Hart and wife Connie of Alma, Arkansas, Rhonda W. Carlile and husband David of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Amber Dansby (Jason) of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Jason Hart (Allison) of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Josh Hart (Jennifer) of Marshall, Virginia, Amanda Ogle (Brian) of Brighton, Colorado, Zeke Carlile and Eli Carlile of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Devon Ogle, Lexi Dansby, Aurora Hart, Jonathan Hart, Ella Dansby, Steven Ogle, Luke Dansby, Caroline Dansby, Julianne Dansby, Silas Hart, and Bishop Hart; nieces Barbara Smith, Brenda Mowry, and nephew, Craig Hart.  Gus was the last of his generation.
Gus was an over-the-road truck driver with his brother Bob for many years. He worked with his father in home construction after coming off the road driving and also served as a city police officer in Siloam Springs, Arkansas for several years.  At the age of 21, Gus became a born-again believer in Jesus Christ and later answered the call to preach God’s Word.  He served as a pastor of churches in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Arizona for over 20 years.  He ended his working life as a hazmat driver for Liquid Carbonics for ten years.
Gus married Ella Brandon August 13, 1955.  Following Ella’s passing, he married Betty Jamison. They were married four years before she passed.  He was a member of the South Lakewood Baptist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024, at South Lakewood Baptist Church, 6108 E. 20th St., Tulsa, Oklahoma.  His son, Michael Hart, will officiate. His cremated remains will be buried in the Coffelt Cemetery, Vaughn, Arkansas at a later date.
