Glen Austin Underhill

Glen Austin Underhill, 67, of Checotah, Oklahoma, passed away on November 17, 2025.

He was born on March 21, 1958, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the son of Edgar Austin Underhill and Charleen Andrusha Underhill.  Glen was a loving and devoted son, husband, dad, friend and papaw to 4 wonderful grandkids.

Glen married the love of his life Lydia June Beaird on November 19, 1977, in this very building. Throughout the 48 years together they were friends, co-parents, but most of all soul mates.

Glen was a 1976 graduate of Checotah High School.  He was a member of the Checotah Church of Christ. He worked as a master carpenter, pipe liner and driver for Kats.  Kats provided a post-retirement job where he was able to help people, as he worked aside of some great people, that brought him great joy and purpose.

Glen loved hunting, fishing, golf and most of all being ornery to whomever would allow it.  He was very proud of his family’s Cherokee heritage. Over the years Glen and Lydia opened their home for a list of foster children though the Choices for Life Program. Glen always found joy in helping others.

He is survived by his wife, Lydia of the home; his daughter, Brandy Johnson and her husband, Scott of Stigler; his son, Rob Underhill and his wife, Janie Underhill of Checotah; his grandsons, Devin and Jase Johnson; his granddaughters, Ashlyn Johnson and Molly Underhill; his sister-in-law, Regina and her husband, Bobby Shropshire of Checotah, Dovie Smith of Nashville, Cora Beaird of Checotah and Judy Beaird of Eufaula; his brothers, Myrl and wife, Teresa Underhill of Checotah, Eddie and wife, Deana Underhill of Owasso and numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Charleen Underhill; his brothers, Harold and Gerald Underhill; his father-in-law, Floyd Beaird; his mother-in-law, Violet Ruth Grant-Beaird; his sister-in-law, Rita Beaird and his bother-in-laws, Rodger and Jerry Beaird.

Viewing and visitation for Glen will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Hunn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 211 W. Okmulgee, Checotah, Oklahoma 74426.

Funeral services for Glen will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 21, 2025, at the Checotah Church of Christ, 305 E. Gentry Ave., Checotah, Oklahoma 74426.  Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Checotah.
