Ernie H. Whisenhunt

Ernie H Whisenhunt, 87, passed from this life on March 6, 2022, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, after a brief bout of leukemia.
      He was born on January 13, 1935, in Texanna, Oklahoma, to Dee and Iva (McGuire) Whisenhunt.  On May 4, 1963, he married the love of his life, Emma Jean Fletcher, and had two daughters.  He resided in Checotah for his entire life, working for Dobson's Gas for over 20 years, serving as a City of Checotah Counselman, and ending his career working for the City of Checotah for 22 years.  Ernie was known for his kind and generous heart.  He was always helping others.
      He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister Neva D Phillips, brothers, Harold, Herman, and Bruce, and son-in-law, Keith Nelson.
      Ernie is survived by his daughters, Tanna Nelson, Trina Teague and husband Bryan, grandchildren, Felicia Sanders, Amber Sanders, Josh Nelson, Bailey Teague, Connor Teague, Alexis Nelson, great grandchildren, Jamie, Jaydan, Karlee, Austin, Garrett, Trasten, Serena, Matthew, special nephew Tommy Ray Phillips, numerous family members, and a host of friends that he considered family.
      Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 14th and Tuesday, March 15th at Hunn Funeral Home, 211 W. Okmulgee, Checotah, Oklahoma.  Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16th at Hunn Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Checotah.  Serving as pallbearers will be Rick Cox, Todd Garner, Brian Martin, Stacey Durrett, Jr., Zack Ledbetter, and Hubert Sanders.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.
