Dwight Mann Obituary

Dwight Lee Mann Sr. departed this world and joined the angel choir on October 10, 2021, at the age of 77. Dwight was born April 9th, 1944, in Checotah, Oklahoma to Thelma and Wesley Mann. Dwight was raised in Checotah, spent some time living in Arkansas but returned to the area he loved to be around his family.
Dwight was a man who enjoyed life and loved to laugh. All who knew him will remember him by his big heart, love for music and his laugh. He was quick to tell a story and he was a wealth of knowledge. He was very proud of his Mann family name and the legacy they built in the fencing business. Family gatherings were always filled with stories of who stretched the biggest job, etc. The men in the Mann family were all masters of their trade and this legacy lives on in the sons and grandsons as a tribute to the amazing men who taught them everything they know. Dwight proudly spent years of building fence alongside his brothers, friend Owen Catlett, and eventually with his son Shorty. During his years of working, he developed a “family relationship” with both David “Hoss” Coleman and Larry Hayes.

Dwight loved music and he shared that love with his kids and grandkids. In his younger years at any type of gathering he could be found with a guitar in his hands picking and singing every chance he could. He proudly introduced music to his kids; country music and gospel that is, along with bluegrass with frequent trips to Silver Dollar City and Branson. Dwight and his family sang in many churches during his younger years, spreading the gospel through song. He is undoubtedly picking and singing already in the angel band.
Dwight was preceded in death by his mother and father and his brothers: Wesley Jr., Orvil, Larry, and the infant Mann twins. He leaves behind his wife Hazel and kids Angie & Steve Lane, Lanetta & Rob Jaggars, Shorty & LeeAnn Mann, Heather & Christopher Alverson, Tony McKay, Tammy McKay, Johnne McKay, and first wife and best friend Yvonne Walker. Dwight leaves behind a legacy in his grandchildren Michaela, Anthony, Carlie, Kristen, Michael, Zachary, Kindra, Sean, Brett, Skye, Joseph, Dustin, Sara, Tyler, Cheyenne, Arianna, Draven, Makya, Tristen, Vanessa, Devon, Abbrie, Andrew, and great grandchildren Dallas, Dalton, Braden, Isabella, Colten, Emma, Aaliyah, Niko, Everleann, and Michael Dale.
