Dorthy Faye Myers, 93, of Council Hill, Oklahoma, passed away on September 30, 2021 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She was born on April 24, 1928 in Amarillo, Texas, the daughter of William Albert Kirkland and Ceretta (Bledsoe) Hutchins. Dorthy grew up in the Checotah, Oklahoma area and attended Shady Grove and Nebo Schools. She worked as a cook at Midway High School in Council Hill. Dorthy was married over 40 years to William Ray Myers, until his passing in 2000. She was a member of Countryside Baptist Church. She enjoyed her church, gospel music, fishing and cooking. Dorthy was everyone's mom. She sewed clothing for everyone. Dorthy loved sitting outside on her porch.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; children, Harold Ray Myers and William (Billy) Myers; brothers, George, R.E., David, Dewayne, Albert and Bill Kirkland; sister, Brenda Buckmaster. Dorthy is survived by one son, Kyle Myers and Robin Archer of Hitchita; daughter, Tami Murphy and Curtis Griffin of Boynton; three grandchildren, Ashley Murphy, Shane Murphy and Shelly Noland Myers; and three great-grandchildren, Jamel Rucker, and Averie and Jordan McCormick and special friend, Crystal Madewell.
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 4, 2021 at Hunn Funeral Home in Checotah. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Countryside Baptist Church in Checotah, OK with Rev. Daniel Wind officiating. Interment will follow in Council Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ray Highfill, Bobby Ziegler, Benjamin Bartlett, Patrick Butcher, Curtis Griffin and Shane Focht. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Herron and Tommy Herron.
