December the 4th at 3:00 p.m., Donald Ray Luke, 85, of Checotah, Oklahoma answered the call from God to help with his white horses in heaven.
Donald was born and raised in and around the Central High Community where he worked on the farm with his dad. He ran Checotah Ready Mix Cement Company for 25 years. After the plant closed, he went on to drive a truck, road grader and bulldozer for McIntosh County District 1 until he retired.
Donald’s life revolved around horses; he loved riding with his grandkids and great grandkids.
Donald leaves behind his wife, Ruby Ellen Luke of 65 years; his daughter, Linda Emerson and her husband, Jay; his son, Jimmy Don Luke and his wife, Donna; his grandsons, Kenton Luke and his wife, Jennifer, Josh Luke and Jason Mitchell; his granddaughters, Shannon Madewell, Phelicia Poorman and her husband, Ranell in addition to Josh Emerson and his wife, Kim, Jayme Crosby and her husband, Chad and Jeremy Emerson; brother and sisters-in-law, Wanda Maher, Pat Park, Stella Bias, Buddy and Carol York, Anna and William Hill, Larry and Lisa Robinson and Cathy Luke; a special longtime friend, Bob Brinsfield and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and host of friends.
Donald was preceded in death by his oldest son, Dale Luke; his parents, Charlie and Wilma Luke; two older sisters, Kathryn Duke and Bernice Rock; two younger brothers, Harold Luke and Ronnie Luke; brother and sisters-in-law, Charlie Rock, Houston Duke, Mary Jo Luke, JD Maher, Harley Bias, Bob Park and Lonnie Robinson.
Honoring Donald’s wishes, cremation is planned. A memorial service for Donald will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 12, 2025, at the Checotah First Free Will Baptist Church, 713 N. Broadway Street, Checotah, Oklahoma 74426.
