Don Maple Head

 Don Maple Head, 80, of Warner, Oklahoma passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023. Don was born on October 19, 1942, the son of Dick Maple Head and Gracie May (Lowe) Head, in Warner where he was raised and attended school. He met Betty Taylor in Porum and they were married in 1963 in Stigler. Their union was blessed with two children.
      At the age of 14, Don began working as a ranch hand a job which spanned until his retirement at 60 years of age. He was a talented carpenter and built the house where Betty continues to live.  
      Don was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruth Rowland; brothers, Billy Head, Ray Head, James Head and Lonnie Head. He is survived by his wife, Betty (Taylor) Head of the home; son, James Deon Head and his wife, Mishell of Howe, OK; daughter, Regina Jones and husband Brett of Warner; brother, Gene Head of Warner; sisters, Carolyn Casey of Muskogee, Linda Driggers of Alma, AR, and Yvonne Patton and her husband Rick of Abbeyville, AL; grandchildren, Brittany Harris and husband Shannon, Ricky Jones and wife Kristina, Breanna Head, Sarah Head, Levi Brumfield, Nora Peterson, Audrianna Russell and Lorretta Brake; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Rhilee, Brently, Brayden, Maisie, Elizabeth, Natalia and Gabriel.
      Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Hunn Funeral Home in Checotah and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Bennett Cemetery in Warner with Rev. J.D. Miller officiating.
