Dena Faye (Baker) Whisenhunt

      Dena Faye Whisenhunt, born April 27, 1936, died December 9, 2023, at Cornerstone Speciality Hospital in Muskogee, Oklahoma. 
      Dena was born on a Monday in Shady Grove Community to Monroe and Ruby (Patterson) Baker. She received her education while attending Shady Grove School. Dena met and fell in love with James "Jeff" Whisenhunt and on Monday, March 19, 1956, they were married in McAlester. Together, they had three children. Dena loved to garden, can and watch Oklahoma University and Dallas Cowboys football. She was a smart, strong-willed, kind and very loving lady who loved her family.
      She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; brothers, Billy Joe Baker, Virgil Baker and Bobby Baker; sisters, Lois McFall and Kathy Allen. Dena is survived by her brother, Jacky Baker and wife Debbie of Muskogee; sisters, Mary Brown of Catoosa and Norma Jean Jones of Henryetta, Texas; children, Jeffery and wife Sheral of Checotah, James "Jim" Whisenhunt of Fort Gibson and Mike Whisenhunt of Checotah; grandchildren, Piper Gottfried and husband Morgan of Tulsa, Sheena Iseminger and husband Brett of Fort Gibson, Amy Whisenhunt of Broken Arrow, Blake Whisenhunt and wife Kinsey of Edmond; Jacob Schritter of Idaho, James Whisenhunt of Salt Lake City, Utah and Levi Whisenhunt of Muskogee; and great-grandchildren, Londyn, Sophie, Sawyer, Joni, McCoy and Arlo.
      Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Hunn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at Hunn Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chuck Tankersly officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tommy Lepley, Don Lepley, Terry McFall, Johnny McFall, Rick Baker and Nick Baker. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Baker and Kevin Baker.
