Clinton Dale Staton

Clinton Dale Staton, 61, of Checotah, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He was born June 3, 1964, in Checotah, Oklahoma, the son of Larry Dale Staton and Leona Faye (Cooper) Allwhite.

Clint graduated from Midway High School in Council Hill, Oklahoma in 1982.  After graduating high school, he joined the United States Air Force spending time in South Korea and after three years of service, he was honorably discharged in 1985.

Clint was truly a jack of all trades, with a diverse and accomplished career that reflected his hardworking spirit and love for staying active.  He was well known in the community for his successful insurance business, which he founded in 1996 and proudly operated until his retirement in 2017.  Retirement never fit Clint, he thrived on purpose and productivity.  In 2019, he embarked on a new path as a welder at Proform Group Inc. in Muskogee, where he worked until 2024.  Most recently, he brought his strong work ethic to Triosim Corporation, where he served as a forklift operator.

Clint married Cathy Lynn Howell on June 22, 2000, in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  Together they spent 25 years happily married.

Clint loved motorcycles.  His desire to ride earned him a certificate with the Iron Butt Motorcycle Run.  He also enjoyed welding, fishing and camping.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy Staton of the home; his children, Isaiah Gibson and his wife, Jordan of McAlester, Oklahoma, Wesley Wasson of Checotah, Oklahoma, Matt Wasson of Henryetta, Oklahoma, Jacob Staton of Texas and Joseph Staton and his significant other, Allison King of McAlester, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Legend Scroggins, Jessica Bedard, Hayden Gibson, Travis Wasson, Jaycee Wasson, MJ Wasson, Khloee Wasson, Lyla King and a baby boy on the way; his mother, Leona Allwhite of Checotah, Oklahoma; his aunt, Wanda Arnold of Wainwright, Oklahoma and a very special friend, Dwight McCullough.

He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Staton; his brother, Jeff Staton; his nephew, Travis Scott; two special uncles, Eldon Arnold and Kenneth Staton; his grandparents, Harvey Staton, Orpha Staton, SA Cooper and Hazel Cooper.

Honoring Clint a Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Hunn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 211 W. Okmulgee St., Checotah, Oklahoma 74426.

Honorary pallbearers will be Isaiah Gibson, Wesley Wasson, Joseph Staton, Mike Hayes, Matthew Maxwell, Travis Wasson, Hayden Gibson and MJ Wasson.
