Cleffie "Clay" Wallin Obituary

Cleffie “Clay” (Dowdy) Wallin, age 96, of Gore, Oklahoma, peacefully entered her Heavenly home on Saturday, May 9, 2026, where she was joyfully reunited with her beloved husband, Jessie Lee Wallin Jr.

Clay was born on November 25, 1929, in Bristow, Oklahoma, to Joseph William Dowdy and Bertha Jewel (Godwin) Dowdy. Joseph and Bertha were blessed with eleven children, and Clay, the middle child, was the last surviving sibling before her passing.

Clay devoted her life to her family and home as a loving homemaker. She married the love of her life, Jessie Lee Wallin Jr., on November 14, 1950, in Exeter, California. Together they shared 60 years of love, faith, and devotion until Jessie’s passing on June 7, 2011. Their bond was one of enduring love, and Clay longed for the day they would be together again.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Clay was baptized on October 15, 1972, at First Baptist Church in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. Her relationship with the Lord was the foundation of her life. Through every joy and every hardship, her faith remained steadfast and carried her with grace, strength, and hope.

Clay had a servant’s heart and found joy in helping others. She spent many years volunteering and encouraging individuals on their weight loss journeys as an advocate for Weight Watchers. She also lovingly served as a cook for the Baptist church in Muskogee, Oklahoma, blessing many through her kindness and hospitality. In her younger years, she worked hard chopping cotton and gathering walnuts, experiences that shaped her strong work ethic and resilient spirit.

Clay found happiness in the simple blessings of life. She loved crocheting, quilting, sewing, reading, gardening, growing her own vegetables, and canning. The warmth of her hands and the love she poured into everything she created will remain treasured memories to those who knew her.

She is survived by her special friends, Megan Johnson, Ellen, and Bear, along with numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Clay was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Bertha Dowdy; her cherished husband, Jessie Lee Wallin Jr.; her siblings, George, Myrle, Haskell, Opal, Jacklean, Waynoka, Albert David (Bud), Donivee, Betty and Mona; and her beloved dogs, Midnight and Lucy.

Though her family and friends will deeply miss her gentle presence, they rejoice in knowing she is now at peace in the arms of her Savior. Her legacy of faith, love, kindness, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

A funeral service honoring Clay’s life will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Webbers Falls, 120 McCorkle St., Webbers Falls, Oklahoma 74470. Interment will follow at Pope Chapel Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved Jessie.
