Claudia Derrick

 On July 3, 1960 a healthy baby girl, named Claudia was born to Leola &L.C. Derrick of Checotah, OK. 
Claudia was the youngest of eight children. Claudia was the first baby Dr. Payne delivered in Checotah.  She was a 13- pound baby. L.C. placed Claudia on his right knee as he drove around and worked cattle. The close contact with the cows and cowboys led Claudia to become an avid fan of Bullriding".  She was a fan of J.B. Mauney.
 Claudia has had a contagious smile since her childhood. That smile has bridged gaps, mean broken hearts, and brought a family of strangers together.  Claudia had a skilled eye for detecting pain and discomfort. Her usual method to ease pain was food. She developed an art for cooking at an early age. Most of her career as a cook was spent at the Kathy Café under the direction of Irene Martin. 

During her early twenties, Claudia gave birth to a beautiful son, named Levi. The love of her life.   As her health began to decline, she sought other ways to spread the gospel, redirect her energy for something good. Keep Levi on the right track. She did things for people, that no one else knew about.  
I watched her break so many barriers, miracles that cannot be explained by textbook, doctors or lawyers.  On Jan 16, 2021 the Lord called her home.  She will be missed.
