Bruce Wayne Kortkamp, 74, passed from this life at his lakeside cabin home in Checotah, Oklahoma on June 5th, 2022. He was born August 12th, 1947, in Philadelphia PA and spent his early childhood living in Hawaii.
He graduated Salutatorian of Tucson Arizona Pueblo High School Class of ’65 where he excelled at diving. He earned a State Finals silver medal and an athletic and academic scholarship to Stanford University. As a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, he graduated college with a bachelor's degree from Cal State Long Beach.
He was a pilot at an early age and was a lifelong lover of boating and the outdoors. He worked as a woodcutter, a waterman, and a successful Realtor and investor in the mountains and deserts of Southern California before retiring to Oklahoma. A cowboy at heart, his favorite moments were spent caring for his property, hosting his family, and relaxing on his beloved front porch, a cup of coffee in hand with his life partner Linda Ramsey solving each morning’s crossword. “Mr. B” will be fondly remembered by his extended Iowa family Robin, Ed, Amanda and Sophie.
“Bru” is survived by his mother Marjorie Kortkamp, his brother Larry, sisters Diana and Jan as well as the mother of his children, Nancy Christopher. “Dad” will be dearly missed by his three children and their spouses – Bret & Nicole, Ethan & Wendy, and Keri & Joe—along with his two grandsons – Jake and Luke Kortkamp.
