Billy L Harrison

Billy L. Harrison departed this life on April 24, 2021 in Muskogee, Oklahoma.  Billy was born to Virgil and Lala (Lucas) Harrison, December 11, 1928 in Checotah, Oklahoma.

Billy attended Checotah Public Schools.  He enlisted in the Army in 1946 serving until his retirement in 1966.During his time in the Army, Billy received multiple letters of commendation as Battalion Supply Sergeant. He was able to visit several foreign countries during his enlistment. His last duty station was Alaska.   He also worked for Otasco for many years after leaving the Army.  He married Kay F. Ragsdale in Muskogee, Oklahoma on March 7, 1969.  They were married 46 years until her passing in 2015.  Billy enjoyed fishing, hunting and especially gardening.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil Harrison and Lala Olmstead and stepfather Earl Olmstead; wife, Kay; son, David Wayne McFarlands; daughter, Deanna Harrison; brother, Burl Harrison and sisters, Kay Harrison, Nadine Harden and Gloria Hunt.  Billy is survived by sons, Tim Harrison and wife Sandy and  Tommy McFarland and wife Sandy; daughter, Angela Lawson; stepdaughters, Linda Brassfield and husband Randy and Dee Scocos; and brothers, John Max Harrison, Jack Harrison and wife Barbara. 

Visitation will be held at the Hunn Funeral Home, 211 W. Okmulgee Ave., Checotah, OK 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, April 27th.  A funeral service honoring Billy's life will be held in the Checotah Chapel, Hunn Funeral Home, Checotah, Oklahoma 1:00 pm, Wednesday, April 28th. Interment will follow the funeral service at the graveside in Greenhill Cemetery, Muskogee, Oklahoma.
