Betty Sue Fairchild, 85, of Checotah, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, November 20, 2025, in Checotah.
Betty was born on April 27, 1940, in Checotah, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of August and Myrtle (Short) Brinsfield. On July 15, 1955, Betty married Howard Fairchild in Hemet, California. They were happily married for 67 years until Howard’s passing in 2023.
Betty was a homemaker and took good care of her family. She enjoyed her kids and later her grandkids, who all loved her dearly. Betty was the mother of six boys, yes, six boys. She had her first five a little over a year apart and waited nine years for her last. She loved them all, and they all loved her. Her final five and a half years were spent at the Checotah Nursing Home and Rehab where she received wonderful care.
Betty is survived by her sons, Jimmy Fairchild and his wife, Elizabeth of Checotah, Roger Fairchild of Fort Gibson and Will Fairchild and his wife, Charlotte of Checotah; her brother, Randy Brinsfield and his wife, Lisa; her sisters, Nadine Parker and her husband, Jimmy and Darlene Metcalf; her grandchildren, Ryan Fairchild, Stacey Smith, Misty Westfall, Justin Fairchild, Jerry Fairchild, Measa Carper, Mitch Fairchild, Casey Fairchild, Trey Fairchild and Shelby Fairchild. She is also survived by numerous great grandchildren and a few great-great grandchildren. Aunt Betty also leaves behind a ton of nieces and nephews.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Franky, Gary and Jerry; her brothers, Carl and David Brinsfield; her sister, Faye Ashby and one grandson, Jason Fairchild.
Viewing and visitation for Betty will be held Sunday, November 22, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Monday, November 23, 2025, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm at Hunn Funeral Home & Cremation Service. The family will greet friends each day starting at 4:00 pm.
Funeral services for Betty will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Hunn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 211 W. Okmulgee, Checotah, Oklahoma 74426. Interment will follow at Triplett Cemetery.
