Anthony Ray Lawrence, 64, of Checotah, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2025, at his home surrounded by family. Anthony was born on July 28, 1960, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the son of Everett Ray and Kathleen (Logan) Lawrence. He graduated from Eufaula High School in 1978 and received his associate degree from Connors State College. Anthony married Verlinda (Carol) Martin at the Vivian Baptist Church in Eufaula. He worked as a soil conservationist for the USDA-NRCS for twenty-three years retiring in 2011. After retirement, Anthony worked as a ranch foreman for C-Gawf until 2016. He then worked for the United States Postal Service as an HCR mail carrier from 2016-2023. He was the owner/operator of CAL Cattle from 1985 until his death. He loved the Lord and his family dearly.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Carol, of the home; daughter Felicia DeAnn Pearce and husband Barry; son, Martin Callahan Lawrence and wife Stormy; mother Kathleen Lawrence; brother Ron Lawrence and wife Christy and sisters Dedra Barton and husband Phil and LeAnn Prince and husband Eddie; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father Everett R. Lawrence, grandparents, Troy and Olga Logan, G.R. and Mettie Lawrence.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church with Bro. Cambrin Collins officiating. Pallbearers will be Martin Lawrence, Landen Dan, Ron Lawrence, Chris Gawf, Barry Pearce, Gene Logan and Austin Hughes. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Wyer, Toney Rippy, Gip Southern, Barry Howell, Rodney Helms and Steve Hooten. Burial will follow at the Lenna Cemetery under the direction of Hunn Funeral Home & Cremation Service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
